You may have already seen this one on another thread, but I figured you wouldn't mind seeing it again. Its a 64 Chevy 2 Nova Sedan currently with a 355 and a Turbo 350. This one was my dad's old 40 Willys. Before he had it, it was a C/Gasser out of Long Island, NY that ran all along the east coast in the 60's. When my dad had it, it ran a tunnel rammed 350 and a Turbo 350 with an Olds rear on the street. Still looking for info on the whereabouts of this one if anybody has any. Hope everybody likes them!

Glad you liked the "38 Special". Cool Nova too! Maybe we'll see you at some nostalgia meets. A great show is the Hot Rod Reunion, Bowling Green, KY. Next year we are aiming for the Gasser Reunion in Ohio.

I hope so. I'm from Northeastern Maryland, so mostly I stay within about 150 miles. I try to make it to the York U.S. 30 Reunion every year. This year was my first trip to Beaver Springs and I had a blast. I didn't make it home until 1:30 A.M. though. It's a 2 1/2 hour trip for me. The Geezers at the Grove show is really cool too at Maple Grove. I was upset that it got rained out. I had my leave in for work that weekend, and that was the last of it, so I didn't get to make the rain date.

I finally got the chance to take the Nova to the track yesterday. After finally having a full season of cruising without breaking anything, I took the car to Cecil County Dragway here in MD. I had to borrow a set of rear tires because mine only went 8 years before showing cords. I was only expecting 14s out of the car because the engine is not that great. My best run was 13.33 at 97mph, spinning off the line and with a blown head gasket. Apparently the head gasket blew the run before that. I heard it, but didn't realize what it was until I ran that run and a 13.35 right after it. Not too bad for something not running right and me expecting a bit worse.

low 13's are not that bad, especially for a street driven car too! Hopefully the motor is salvageable. I look forward to seeing what the car will do when it's running right.

Well, I took the engine apart 2 days ago, and found exactly what I expected, a blown head gasket. The steel ring looks like it exploded and melted around the top of the cylinder. While I was under the car unbolting the nose, I also found the driver's side spring perch was cracked front and back. I'm guessing that using the line lock and doing burnouts was twisting the springs and putting extra push and pull loads on the perches. Just wanted to remind everyone to check everything fairly often after you drive them a while. If I hadn't seen that, I could've hit a bad pothole and torn the axle out of it. The car would've made a bad left turn into oncoming traffic. Be safe!

Low 13's are fun! Sounds like you'll improve on that when you get things right with the motor. Glad you found the cracked spring perch, that could have been a mess!

I think I asked you before SA64N, but did you use front wheel arches on your rear wheelwell openings?

The rear wheel wells are from a Pinto Wagon. It was done waaaayyyy before I had the car. The only thing I had to do was open them up a little more for the bigger tires.

Well, I finally had my days off from work in line with some GREAT weather and fixed the front axle on the car. I don't have any pictures, but i'm positive that the new leaf spring pads will not flex and crack like the old ones. I made them out of 1/2" channel. All that's left is to bolt the nose back on the car and do some fine tuning of the carbs. Hopefully there'll be a little bit of cruisin' this year. Just a side note....if any of you don't have one, the next time harbor freight has a sale on a plasma cutter, pick one up. It makes things so much easier. I picked one up for about $600 about 2 years ago and it has been worth every bit of the money just in time, aggravation, and cut-off wheels.

I have noticed a trend. I grew up in South Texas, gassers are not common. I currently live in North Utah, there is almost no gasser following here. I constantly get people saying "Why would you do that to your car?".
On the web, gassers are full blown like the sixties on the east coast...Wonder why?
