I also am building a Rambler Gasser. It's a 68 Rambler American. Trying to keep it pure. AMC 401, 727, Dana 44 spooled, Speedway Strait axle kit. Performance parts for an AMC are rare or very expensive. I know an auto is not true gasser style, but it's what I have. Agree on the rear fender openings. I was able to put 12.5's on the rear without any triming. Keep up the good work.

things are moving fast now my brother finished the metal work on all that was left (rear qtrs) and he is ready to to do the last of the prep work . the fenders, doors, trunk, hood, bumpers and outside mirror are all in paint (tri stage pearl white with silver base) and argent silver for the trim , they are all wet sanded and buffed (he used 3000 on final and its looks like you can swim in the paint) , gonna take it to work in a couple of weeks and put on the hoist and do all final welds under car . I'm seriously looking at going with the crager skinny fronts and steel rears, what are the tires that you are running up front? I really dig the look!

Looks great! I think the stance is spot on! I'm just wondering if you'll have some bump steer issues with the angle on your drag link?

good question - i suppose ALL straight axles have some bump steer , just a question of whats acceptable . this is my 1st TALL straight axle , so i may have to wait until the maiden voyage , but any positive input on the most desirable angle of pitman arm trac bar is more than welcomed , its anticipated . so please , help me deflect any uneeded stress that will come along with the first pedal smash on the rambler .

No bump steer is acceptable, sorry, both my '56 and Nova have no bumpsteer. Keep the pitman arm as close to parallel with the front axle as possible and also use cross steering and 8-10 degrees of positive caster on the front axle and all should be good. I'v also used steering dampeners just in case, but my cars have never even come close and handle great.

thanks for the information . i just got an 8" drop pitman arm delivered and it looks like that should put it pretty close to where it needs to be . the car went to my brothers shop last week after we finished all the underside welding , the trunk is done and he is getting ready to paint the engine bay . the next step is removal of all suspension , paint the suspension , undercoat car and then final paint and assembly .
