When I started mine, there was only 1 gasser here in Harford County where I live, it was and still is a 40 Willys. When I got the car, my dad said it would make a cool straight axle car because of the rear wheelwells. I first drove the car in 2003, and went to my first Ocean City Endless Summer Cruise that year. The only straight axle cars there were the Willys, mine, and a red 55 Chevy. Now I see them everywhere. I guess everyone is just tired of the cookie cutter Pro-Street Camaro. I know I am.

Hey all. I'll be headed to Cecil County Dragway this Saturday to beat on the car a little. I have some tires that I hope will stick this time. I changed out the stock axles and studs in the rear for Moser axles, studs, and C-clip eliminators for safety. I know its not quick or fast (its still a street car), but I'm hoping to go 12.80s with it. I hope to have some pictures and video for you guys.

Well, it was a good day! The only broken part was a throttle cable that a quick trip to the hardware store fixed. My first run of the day was the best at 12.94@100 mph. The car ran well and was bracket race consistent. With 9 runs ranging from 12.94 to 13.08. Here's my favorite picture. My 7-year-old son took this picture of my last run. I don't know how a 13 second car can get the right front tire off the ground, but it was caught on camera. Trust me, I know that 13.00s are NOT quick at all, but for what I have, it's not bad. I'll try to get video on here also. i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss151/StraightAxle64Nova/Nova/A%20Day%20At%20The%20Strip/NoveFronttireup_zpsb5b3d922.jpg

Here's a link to the video. Please excuse the background banter as the kids were annoying my wife a little too much. Just a quick note...I didn't believe the tire came off the ground, but my 9-year-old daughter took the video of the last run. In the video, you can see that the driver's side tire came off the ground also (the tire doesn't move when the car launches), although you can't see the daylight under the right side on the video. Still, I guess it really did happen. s571.photobucket.com/user/StraightAxle64Nova/media/Nova/A%20Day%20At%20The%20Strip/CecilDay_zpsb63577a5.mp4.html

Thanks. It needs taller gears, and I have them, but I don't want to ruin the streetability of the car. It has 3.55 gears and I was shifting into 3rd at about the 1000 ft. mark and going through the lights at 4300 rpm. My 4.56 gears would move the car better, but my cruise rpm would go from 2450 at 55 mph to about 3200.

Hey Everyone. I took this picture the other day. My dad finally let me attack his old photo album and I grabbed these and scanned them in. He bought this because he thought he'd never get a Willys. It was an old gasser on Long Island. He put a 392 Hemi in it and had it sitting in the driveway at my grandparents' house and someone stopped and offered him way more money than he had in it, so he sold it. He never even got to drive it.

Well, after having been beat on for the past 8 years, the TH350 finally let loose last night. I came off a stop sign and 1st gear went bang, the rpms raised but the car wasn't moving well, shifted into 2nd and heard a clunking sound but it was still drivable, then into 3rd and limped it home, only about 1/2 mile. It totally wasted 1st, but will move in 2nd and 3rd. I hope to have it fixed by next month because there's a really cool show I want to drive it to called the Mobtown Greaseball in Baltimore. Money is tight though. Hopefully nothing got into my converter.

UPDATE: Pulled the trans on Monday and the fluid was almost perfect. No chunks or shavings in the fluid or converter. Took it to a buddy that built it 8 years ago and he pulled it apart while I was there. We were both pleasantly surprised at the condition of the clutches and bands, as he said they still looked fairly new. Unfortunately, the overrun clutch didn't look so good. It broke both races and the bearing, but not the case. He said it should be done in time for me to be driving by the weekend....
Unfortunately, that won't happen. When unbolting the driveshaft, I found out that the rear gears are messed up too. Once again, lucky for me, I have the parts to fix it, but at a cost. The rear has 3.55 gears in it because I drive it almost everywhere. The gears I have are 4.56, so there goes my driveability to a point. It'll just cost me more in fuel...
