Picked this up a couple days ago from a neighbor. Been stored in his friend's barn for 23 years, but he sold the house, so he lost storage. It's a 1963 Falcon Futura, with 6 cyl. and three on the tree! Very straight and very rust free. My plans are a straight axle of course, as I have an Econoline axle all rebuilt and waiting in the shop. The engine will be a big block Chevy, as Chevy's are all I know well, and I've got BBC parts around here. I'll stay with a stick, as I miss shifting gears. Can't start for awhile, as I'm remodeling the home, but had to snatch this one up before someone else did! Every gearhead in the neighborhood was circling like vultures when he trailered it home! I got first dibs, and he wanted $550 for it, so had to get it quickly!

Wow! What a great deal! That's a price from 15 years ago. Great start.

Thanks guys! Probably wont start anytime soon, as I'm gathering parts and remodeling the home too! Plan is to drop a 454 BBC in the Falcon, along with an Econoline straight axle I've rebuilt and had stored away for such a project. Picked up a pair of Edelbrock aluminum oval port heads with 110cc chambers last Sunday. Also picked up a Weiand tunnel ram and twin 600 cfm Holleys to go on it. Heading out to see a friend this weekend to look at a running 454 he has in a PU truck. I'd like to go with a 4 speed, but if I stumble across a Tremec 5-6 speed, I may go that route. Having the overdrive will make highway cruising much easier if I go low gears in a 9" Ford.

Just stumbled back on my post here, and realized I had never updated it since I got the Falcon on the road! Here's some pics of the almost finished project. I'm doing bodywork on it presently in preparation to paint it. The front axle is a Econoline, and rear axle an 8.8" Ford. Engine and trans are a 454 BBC bored .040", with Edelbrock heads, Weiand tunel ram, twin 600 Holleys, Mallory distributor, and MSD ignition, Comp flat tappet cam, Lakewood bellhousing, Super T10 four speed. Tri Five Chevy fenderwell headers. Gilmer belt drive system. Steel tilt front end, 6 point rollbar, radiused rear wheelwells with Mercedes front fender lips welded on to finish them. Home built frame underneath, and home built ladder bars. Tosseed a pair of recovered MII buckets, and made all new door and interior panels. Factory style headliner, and cut down Taurus folding rear seat.

LOL! I built mine in a Costco canopy also! My dad and I had 4 of them in the backyard for our cars. His pro-street '88 Chevy Silverado in 1, his tubbed drag car '71 Vega in 2, my '64 Nova in 3, and my tubbed drag car '87 S-10 in 4. When it snowed, we had to go out every hour and use a sponge mop from the inside to knock the snow off. We had a bad snow one night and #4 collapsed on my S-10. The center pole for the peak bent the roof right down the middle. I was able to bang most of it back out, thanks to the cage.

It's been snowing the last two days, and I've been out there today bumping the snow off the canopy! The Falcon is trading places with my Austin gasser next week, and coming into the garage. I need to put bodywork on hold for now. The 327 in the Austin has a rod knocking on #8 cylinder, and I have to pull the engine and do a complete rebuild. The canopy has more room than my cramped garage, so I'll get the engine teardown done there. Once I've got the 327 rebuilt, I'll swap the cars around again and get back on bodywork.

Sorry to hear about the rod knock. I hope that it's not too costly for you to rebuild. Try to stay warm.

Sorry to hear about the rod knock. I hope that it's not too costly for you to rebuild. Try to stay warm. Unfortunately it didn't turn out good! Spun rod bearing, and crank too far gone to save. I bought a 350 4 bolt main complete engine from a buddy for $100, and it's getting all the machine work now. Should be a much stronger/better engine than before.

Wow, that turned out nice, me likey! Thanks! It's been a fun build so far, but getting power to the ground has proved a challenge! Should be faster than my SBC powered Austin, but times are a full second slower so far due to spinning the slicks the length of the strip. I bought a pair of rims and mounted my Goodyear Eagle slicks on them, so they should hook better than the Hurst slicks.

Finally found a pair of 4"x15" American mags to replace the 6"x14" on the Falcon.
