The Austin is getting a new engine built presently. Spun a bearing on #8, and I'm building up a 4 bolt main 350 now. Also changing intakes from the Pro Dominator polished tunnel ram, to an early Weiand cross ram. I need to get it polished up, and install a balance tube between the two sides of the ram tubes before installing it on the 350.

New intake came today! After 5 hrs. of polishing, and still probably several more left to do, the excitement is wearing off! But it is looking much better. I was surprised to find that under the "as cast" finish the intake appeared to be ground smooth in many places, and then sandblasted. None of the grinder marks showed up until I started buffing the finish off and the shinier it got, the more the grinder marks showed up! I also got the balance tube cut in and in place. Made it from 1" aluminum tubing I had in the scrap bin.

Engine is done, and finished assembling the tins and painted it. Balanced, blueprinted, decked, align bored, and taken .030" over. 355ci with 280/288 duration, .474/.477" lift, 112 LSA. 10:1 CR. Also did more sanding and polishing on the intake to fix some rough grinding marks from the factory that showed up when I removed the cast finish. Picked up a couple Holley 1850 carbs, 600cfm with vacuum secondaries. Should work better than the 450's that are a night mare to tune with mechanical secondaries, but no secondary accelerator pumps.

The engine is completed! Just a few loose ends to tie up and I can do the cam break in!

Did the cam break in yesterday. Had to stop every once in awhile, as the headers smoked and needed to let them cool. After about 4 times they cured and I finished the run in. Now I need to fabricate a fuel line support, and return spring bracket. I mocked up rough cardboard to trace from. Once I cut out some aluminum I'll cut it out, drill lightening holes for looks, and attach it to the carb bases. My cardboard template. I will bend up the aluminum at an angle, and then a corresponding angle to go to the fuel lines for support.
