How is this done. I'm in the very, very early stages of a 57 gasser build. I have a 49-54 chevy truck front axle w/ springs. Need to know. Please.

Try to find a business that builds springs, they should be able to re-arch them too. We use a place called Kramer Springs here in MN and I believe that they are in Inver Grove Heights. Maybe they would do something if you shipped them, not sure though.

The two spring shops we have don't like to re-arc springs. They say that unless the springs are off a fairly new vehicle, they wont do so. It's not a lot more to buy a pair of correct springs. I found them on Ebay for sixty some dollars a pair, and free shipping.

if you haven't done this yet or if you would like to know how to do it at home, here's how. make this tool. the picts show how. just move the spring over about 2 inches after each bend. the more you use it the more you will learn how.
