What size tubing did you use for frame rails?

2x4 for the rails and a piece of heavy walled stainless for front crossmember. I was able to weld a piece of 5/8 barstock to the new frame on the inside before sliding it into the original frame. This made up for the gap between the two and then I pinched the frame in.
