Can someone tell me if Hilborn mechanical Fuel Injection can be made to run on the street? I've heard some say that you can and Hilborn says you can't.Any ideas?

There is a siilver altered wheelbase Nova that was in one of the magazines that has mechanical fuel injection on the street. I forget the magazine name and the name on the car, but the owner came up with a homemade tank, separate from the fuel cell, which uses Holley float bowls mounted on it to control the amount of fuel going to the injecters. I don't remember the entire set-up, but it was explained in detail in the article.

I think I've heard of mechanical injection being run and what Ive heard is they have some kind of electric priming system to get them started.

I just picked up a copy of the September 1986 issue of Hot Rod Magazine. It goes into great detail on how to get them to run on the street.
