Anyone have any pics that could be useful? I've seen the 6 footers and I kind of dig those. Why did they make them so long back in the day? Were they used on leaf spring or coil over rear ends? I'm not getting any wheel hop but the thing will burn out right now. Do they help get traction?

They made them long to try and change the center gravity of the weight of the car. I have heard that you don't want to make them more than half way of the wheelbase, but have no experience with ladder bars. You can use ladder bars on leaf sprung rears, but you should invest in floaters for the rear axle to prevent bind.
If you don't have wheel hop I would suggest better tires. Wider and/or stickier.

Thanks Duckus! Been thinking about bigger tires and wheels. I been kicking around the idea a of hogging the rear wells too, but I haven't had the guts!
