OK, so I get an e-mail from someone who is building a 1/25th scale model gasser and it gets me to thinking about how many of us out there might have gasser models that they could post pics of or maybe we can start a discussion on building versions of our favorite gassers in 1/25th scale. I for one have a few that I need to get started on. My list is:
A couple of versions of the Rat Packer Nova (one is started and almost done) A "Hubbert Engineering" '37 Chevy Coupe The "Badman" '55 Chevy A '53/'54 Chevy Gasser called "Bad Nooze" A couple of the Dave Deals cartoon Deal Wheels '57 Chevy's A couple of '56 Chevy's that I plan on modifying into gassers
I also have the Beswick Tempest AF/X model The Georgia Shaker AF/X model and an AF/X Mustang to build some day.
Now I'll post pics of the Nova when I get it done, but I started about a year aga and haven't finished it yet (but I will). I also started one of the Dave Deal cartoon '57's and will post pics when I get it done.
So, what do you all have? Post some p[ics of what you have built and a list of what you have to yet build.

I am that someone who wrote you the email! I'm kind of excited that I could stir up something. I would post pictures of my current gasser project, but I cannot upload any images to hosting sites. My OS and browser are ancient... I don't know how familiar you are with models and what is available, but there is an aftermarket following for bodies and parts just as vast as the supply of 1:1 auto parts. Every car you mentioned has either a kit or a basis where a few modifications can be had to achieve what you're after. If any of you are curious or involved with model cars, I would like to invite you to take a look at www.BriansModelCars.com . It is, in my opinion, the very best Message Board for model cars. There are not too many gassers floating around, but we have some excellent builders. It is a family-friendly site with tons of helpful people and information. No one makes a dime from the site or anyone who visits or joins, so please don't slam me for promoting it. Our next "Forum Build" is a drag car theme, so you're likely to see some builds you might enjoy, including my 60's era 1953 Ford Gasser. Take care everyone!

You know Ryan, just last week before I got your e-mail, I was making the comparison to what I did as a kid, building model cars to now and what I like doing with real 1:1 cars and how not much has changed. When I was a kid I'd get two or three models at Christmas and my birthday and then when ever I could scrape together $3.00 (It was a while ago) I'd buy myself a new one. And I'd spend hours in my room, listening to my favorite records, building and modifying model cars, really not much different from what I like to do now with 1:1 cars. I still like to put models together, but hardly have any time to do it. I will make sure to check out the site above when I get a chance. Thanks for the e-mail and post.

Model cars are where I started as a kid. I remember building them with my dad. I still buy them and build them in the winter months to get through the snow ......Also I love building a model car of what I am currently working on so I can get an idea of what it would look like....

great ideas, so many car guys get their start by build ing models. It gives you a aperspective of what goes where and gets you ready for the real thing. I havaen't bult models in years, never had the time. But everytime I saw something I would like to build i bought it and stuffed it away. Now I'm retired and have the time and am determined to do it. I am trying to finalize a buy on a real 1960 pontiac Catalina to build as a gasser. I plan to make my own frame from a full back half 4 link set up and using a '57 chevy pickup front axle. Anyway. Several years ago I happened on a Japanese model kit (Trumpeter) that does military models. This was before I ever thought of using a '60 Pontiac for a gasser. I bought the model and sat on it for these years. I dug it out and started looking at the kit. It is very highly detailed but most of all, I think it may be the only '60 Pontiac model out there. Local Hobby shop said the company dabbled making car kits but the market was not good enough and has stopped. They are concentrating on the military kits. Long story short. I've got a great model, happened on it and bought it on a whim, and now it is going to help my design my real '60 Pontiac build. Now that's providence. Mark L
