OK, could I ask this again. Does anyone know where I could get leaf springs, or mine re-arched. I am using 1954 chevy truck axle & springs on my 1941 willys coupe. I noticed on quite a few cars that they are using springs with quite an arch. My springs are almost flattened out. I am from Indiana. If any of you know of a spring shop you trust, would you please pass the info along to me. Thank you gasserking

Hey Gasserking. I can't answer your question because I too have been searching for an answer. I can tell you that I spoke with Posies here in PA who makes springs and they said they could only get 2 inches rearch on the 54 pickup springs. Eaton wants to custom build me a new set at a very high price. Local shops I've talked to don't even want to try the job. Since I can't get any help either I'm looking at springs from other trucks like broncos or jeeps that make 4 inch lift springs. So far i'm comming up empty but if I do find anything you can be sure i'll post it. Good luck. Rick

Hello guys , Any heavy truck repair facility or Tractor trailer repair shop worth its salt has a Spring Shop. These guys will heat and re-arch just about anything . I went to a place called Parts for Trucks, for mine . Cost me $112 and that gave me new rubber bushings , new shackles and nuts and bolts and one pregnant dogin' arch :-) Hope this is of some use. Elwood

Just to let everyone know, I found a place that still makes leaf springs. They are quoting me a price now. If it reasonable I will let everyone know. If not I will post that too. It is Suspension King out of PA. Thank you to the people that helped. I listened to you guys about my leafs being over 50 years old, and probably would not be safe. gasserking

Hey gasserking, how'd you make out? I found a set of used jeep CJ front springs that are 1-3/4 wide and about 6 inches longer than the stock 54 truck springs. They're also alot stiffer and about 4 inches taller. I'll be mocking it up in about a week or two. I'll let you know how it looks. Rick

hey guys. a really good set of springs is front model a springs. they are about 31 or 32 inches long. they ride a lot better than trailer springs because they are to short and stiff. i have used them on all kinds of gassers and they work. a little side note. i remember buying them from j. c. Whitney for about 30 something a spring awhile back. haven't looked lately though. as far as rearching them, i posted a pic of a tool i made that is the cats meow when it comes to spring rearching. easy and cheap to make. here is the post. gassersinc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=64

Well the jeep springs would have worked but the one is twisted at the end and new ones are expencive. So I gave up and called speedway and orderd their springs which it turns out are Model A springs. 65 bucks a piece. part number 91033029 if anyone else is interested. Rick
