Been visiting the site for a long time and just joined today. Just wanted to say how much I appreciate this site and all the work it must take to keep it running.
I have been working on a 66 Chevelle with a straight axle for a number of years, my neighbors think I'm nuts. It always reminds me of that saying "if I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't understand" anyways keep up the good work, and thanks again.

If I had a 66 Chevelle I would have an axle under it too! Just like the model when I was a kid.

Hey Shaft, I didn't realize there was a 66 Chevelle model with a straight axle. What was it called? I'm always looking for magazine articles or pictures of a 66 Chevelle Straight Axle to keep me motivated, but there just aren't that many out there. If there was a model, I'd like to have it.

Hey Brad, I live just off Route 80 & I55. I bought the Chevelle from a guy in Kentucky. The Straight Axle and all the front end modifications were done in the late 60's. Raced that way into the early 70's, and then parked outside. If you've ever worked on this Chevelle body style, you'll know that the trunk area rusts out, and that's where I'm at right now with the project, basically replacing the whole back end sheet metal of the car. Maybe this summer when the weather gets nicer, we can get together & have a laugh. -Jim
