Hey Guys,
I have a 54 Ford that I am building as a gasser. What motors would be period correct for a ford?

Welcome George. I'd say put a 406 or 427 ford in it.

to be period correct, just about any motor you want. I've seen olds and poncho's and hemi's and chevys and flatheads and ford fe's. there was one in the 60's that ran chevy. it would run in the 11's. was black primered. since i had a '53 mainline gasser, i asked him why that body style and he said because they didn't have a packard. i didn't understand it then and still don't. why would you build a car you don't like? there was one down the street from me with an olds, which i had one in mine also . there was one at an auto repair garage in my town that ran a 427 ford and one that prowled the streets after hours with a y block. that sucker would pull the front wheels a foot in the air when he got on it. there was also one that ran at lions by an African American club out of LA that had a 427 fe too. always liked their car. i even drew it on a t shirt and wore it until it fell off. it had a tear drop scoop, then they put injection on it through the scoop. i loved the way that looked. here is a social group on the HAMB. if not a member will problably have to join. www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?groupid=332
