Greetings all...New guy here going to build a street driven gasser...The car is a 1940 Plymouth coupe...The body is a rust free car in VG condition...I plan to use a 1956 Dodge 1/2 ton beam and leafs axle...Using the stock chassis w/IFS removed...And keeping it all Mopar, I'm going with a warmed up Slant Six w/automatic trans....Everything listed so far I already have in the garage...Still have to locate a suitable rear...I'm going for "the look" and no way will it see the dragstrip...No roll bar and keeping the beautifully upholstered bench seat will be the way I'm going with this...Any opinions either yay or nay are fine...I'm building this solo, so if anything goes wrong, I have nobody to blame but myself...I love Gassers, and have been following them since the 1960s...Now I'm retired and can putz around in the garage all day long any day I want to...I can't afford the "real deal" so I'm doing the next best thing...Thanks ...Mike S. ;D

High mike good luck I'm doing the same but with a 41 Plymouth coupe p11 what year truck for the axle I went and looked at the springs on a dodge truck today man are the long and flat how do you get the lift out of something so flat I've been looking at the speedway axles they have a good arch and there only 31 inches long but there 400 bucks plus I'm in the process of sand blasting the frame now so I got time to figure out which one to use nothing but time lol

Just go to your local trailer supply house and find a pair of springs in the 1500 lb. range. Trailer springs are usually anywhere from 24"-29", and have a nice arc to work on a gasser. I'm using trailer springs on a Econoline axle. I removed one leaf to make them ride a bit softer.

I saw trailer springs at my local Tractor Supply store that seem like they would work very well as replacements for mine. Mine are the Speedway springs and are starting to sag a lot after 10 years of driving.
